R2 Back on the air!

We did it this weekend with two rides onto the Vavatsinia peak site of the Cyprus Amateur Radio Society we managed to bring R2 back on the air. As suspected before the problem was power and now we have to think how to prevent this from hapenning again. One more problem we faced is the detuning of the APRS digipeater antenna. It now shows an SWR of 1.6 which is bearly acceptable but is causing too much of a loss on the transmission power thus making the digipeater signal very weak (about 10 times weaker). Therefore we decided that we need to replace the antenna with a new one so as to bring back the system to nominal operation. 

 

Hmmm... it is a diffiult job to keep a repeater system on the air 24/7...
